Naixin Zhang is a PhD candidate at the George Washington University. She sat down for an interview at the 2026 AEA poster session to talk about how the political power of politicians shapes industrial policy interventions in the United States. She found that industries with larger employment shares in politically powerful districts are significantly more likely to receive industrial policy support.
