How does health information technology adoption affect healthcare access?

Lucy Wang is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She sat down for an interview at the 2026 AEA poster session to talk about the diffusion of advanced health information technology. She found that rapid adoption of health information technology led to significant increases in the the density of physicians at hospitals, especially in areas with a physician shortage.
