Juliet-Nil Uraz is a PhD candidate at the London School of Economics. She sat down for an interview at the 2026 AEA poster session to talk about legal aid reforms in England and Wales that drastically reduced public funding for civil legal assistance. She found that areas exposed to cuts experienced increases in eviction filings, court orders, homelessness, and mortality.
